Biblical Foundations

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Sacred Scriptures are truly God’s revelation to man in human language. As St. Jerome stated, “to be ignorant of Scripture is to be ignorant of Christ”. In four weeks, this course will provide the essential fundamental truths behind the Bible: its inspiration by the Holy Spirit, its canon, its inerrancy, and its truly being the Word of God. By the end of this course, students will be able to begin reading and understanding the Scriptures for what they truly are.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

(1) To inspire in the student an appreciation for Sacred Scripture as God’s loving Word to man.

(2) To encourage regular reading and study of Scripture.

(3) To understand that Scripture and Tradition constitute one Deposit of Faith.

(4) To appreciate the necessity of the authority of the Church and Tradition in the proper interpretation of Sacred Scripture

Course Expectations

Students will be required to take three quizzes based on the readings from the texts.
Students will become the familiar with the Sacred Scriptures and will be expected to memorize the books of the New Testament. This will be tested in the final class.
