Creed I
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Creed I will begin to explore the fundamental doctrines of Christianity as professed in the Apostles Creed. The Apostles Creed originated as the baptismal profession of faith for catechumens in the early Church. Continuing with Creed II, this course will follow the division into twelve articles employed by the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each topic illuminates the most fundamental belief of Christianity: faith in the Holy Trinity, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As former Cardinal Ratzinger said, everything is an unfolding of simple faith in God. The course aims to show students that this Triune God is, above all, the God of love.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
1) Gain a basic understanding of the fundamental tenets of the Catholic Faith as expressed in the Apostles Creed.
2) Be able to discern orthodox doctrines from heterodox teaching.
3) Grow in our relationship with God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, through a deeper knowledge of Him and His loving work of salvation.
